Use the Free Planner →How county rates are set. Each California county negotiates its IHSS provider wage separately with SEIU Local 2015. The negotiated rate is then approved by CDSS and the county board of supervisors before taking effect. This means the same care work pays different wages in different counties.
When rates update. Most counties implement wage increases on January 1 each year, though some agree to mid-year increases through collective bargaining. The June 1, 2026 rate shown above is the current published rate. Check with your county IHSS office or SEIU Local 2015 for upcoming increase announcements.
What affects your take-home pay.You earn straight time (your base rate) for the first 40 hours in any Sunday–Saturday workweek. Hours above 40 in a week are paid at 1.5× your hourly rate. Your weekly cap is 70:45 for one recipient (66:00 for two). How you distribute your authorized hours across weeks determines how much overtime you earn — and that's exactly what IHSS Planner helps you optimize.
