How overtime works in IHSS: Overtime (1.5× your rate) kicks in after 40 hours in a Sunday–Saturday workweek — not per pay period. IHSS pay periods (1st–15th and 16th–end) often split a workweek, so hours from one period can affect overtime in the next. Full overtime guide → · Pay periods explained →
Planning tool — not official guidance. This calculator prices the hours you enter — it does not verify them against your authorized amount or county timesheet records. Always confirm your paycheck with official IHSS documentation.

OT rule source: IHSS overtime is governed by California Labor Code and CDSS policy under AB 1066 (2016). The 40-hour Sun–Sat workweek threshold is codified in CDSS All-County Letter (ACL) 16-01. County weekly caps (70:45 / 66:00 / 90:00) are set under Welfare and Institutions Code §12301.1. See full overtime guide.
