How Orange IHSS pay works
How county rates are set. Each California county negotiates its IHSS provider wage separately with UDW/AFSCME Local 3930. The negotiated rate is then approved by CDSS and the county board of supervisors before taking effect. This means the same care work pays different wages in different counties.
When rates update. Most counties implement wage increases on January 1 each year, though some agree to mid-year increases through collective bargaining. What affects your take-home pay.You earn straight time (your base rate) for the first 40 hours in any Sunday–Saturday workweek. Hours above 40 in a week are paid at 1.5× your hourly rate.
